Most non immigrant visas issued to Ethiopian nationals will be single-entry and valid for only three months. However, visas granted before this date remain unaffected.
The United States Department of State has revised its non immigrant visa policy for Ethiopian citizens, effective July 8, 2025.
Foreign Affairs officisls urged citizens to strictly adhere to visa conditions.
"American visas should not be overstayed,” said Nebiat Getachew, spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during a press briefing held today at Ministry's HQs on Menelik II Avenue.
He cautioned that overstaying could lead to legal consequences under the U.S. government’s tightened immigration enforcement. The Ministry also warned applicants against submitting forged documents, stating that visa violations will no longer be tolerated by U.S. authorities.
US Embassy officials were not immediately available for comment despite repeated attempts by Fortune.
