Safaricom Ethiopia goes live with its M-Pesa service today.
The company announced its mobile money service launch three months after receiving the Payment Instrument Issuer License from the central bank.
Shops and supermarkets across the country have been draped with promotional logos of the service for the past few weeks.
Safaricom Ethiopia has integrated its mobile money services with nine commercial banks.
Hibret Bank announced its partnership two weeks ago where the 475 Bank branches function as super-agents for M-Pesa registration, deposit mobilisation and cash withdrawals.
