ESLSE Tightens Spending, Saves Half a Billion Birr and Exceeds Targets

The Ethiopian Shipping & Logistics Services Enterprise (ESLSE) said it has saved over half a billion birr in the past 10 months, crediting the turnaround to strict cost-control measures and targeted expenditure reductions. The logistics operator attributed the gains to a series of operational reforms, including the overhaul of workflows, reduced reliance on external vendors, and expanded in-house capacity. It also began manufacturing machinery spare parts locally to cut import costs, while tightening oversight of heavy equipment and corporate vehicle usage. Fuel expenses were reduced through improved route planning and fleet management, while the enterprise also secured more competitive pricing agreements with international shipping line partners. ESLSE said the combined measures not only strengthened cost efficiency but also lifted overall performance, helping it achieve 104.2pc of its institutional targets for the reporting period.
