The Ethiopian Roads Administration (ERA) marked its 75th anniversary on July 22, 2026, highlighting gains in road access and the expansion of the country's network. The celebration was held at the Administration's head office, in front of Wabishebele Hotel. ERA Board Chair Eyob Tekalign (PhD) said the average distance Ethiopians travel to reach an all-weather road has fallen from 21Km to 4.4Km, representing an almost fivefold improvement in accessibility. He said more than 44,000Km of roads have been built in recent years, strengthening trade and investment while improving access to education, healthcare and markets. ERA Director General Mohammed Abdurahman said the Administration has expanded the capacity of local contractors, modernised project management and adopted digital technologies. He said the measures are intended to improve the quality and efficiency of road infrastructure development.
