Accounting Qualification Programme Expands, Accredits 11 Institutions

The Ethiopian Institute of Certified Public Accountants (ETICPA) has accredited 11 institutions to deliver the Accounting Technician Qualification Ethiopia (ATQE), marking the first approval of training providers since the programme’s establishment. The accredited institutions include eight public universities, Unity University, and two private training providers. The programme is designed to address Ethiopia’s shortage of qualified accountants by establishing a standardised pathway for professional training. The first ATQE examinations will be held from July 27-30 in Addis Abeba, Bahir Dar, Hawassa, and Haramaya, with about 700 candidates expected to take part. ETICPA plans to train at least 10,000 professional accountants in the coming years through ATQE and its upcoming Certified Public Accountant (CPA) programme.
