Telebirr Surpasses 1b Br Mark in Digital Fuel Payment

Over one billion Birr fuel transactions have been made through Telebirr since the mandatory cashless transaction began two weeks ago. The Ministry of Trade & Regional Integration has announced the value indicates 62pc for Benzine while the rest accounted for Diezel. Telebirr has garnered over 31 million subscribers within the first week of implementation which stood at 27.2 million in January. The nationwide cashless transaction for fuel payment was launched last week. The Ministry announced that a 2.8 million Br transaction was made through Telebirr in Oromia Regional State. According to Seharela Abdulahi, director of the Petroleum & Energy Authority, they have been working closely with officials in the regional state for a smooth operation to regulate the distribution and reduce wasted amounts.
