The Ethiopian Electric Utility (EEU) branch in West Addis Abeba has reported over 1.2 billion Br in revenue during the first quarter of the fiscal year, achieving 91.1pc of its target. Officials credit the improved revenue performance to enhanced service delivery and customer expansion efforts across the region. The update was shared during a consultation forum held with customers and stakeholders to review the quarter’s performance. According to the report, the utility connected 1,317 new customers, reaching 86.7pc of its target. The branch also surpassed its infrastructure goals, laying 66.3Km of medium-voltage and 113.4Km of low-voltage lines, and installing 133 new transformers, exceeding 100pc of its plan. Despite the progress, participants raised recurring issues such as frequent power interruptions and ethical lapses among some employees. They urged management to take stronger measures to ensure reliability and improve customer service. Responding to the concerns, Regional Director Dejene Bonsa said ongoing initiatives aim to deliver a more stable and sustainable power supply, with a renewed focus on customer satisfaction and operational efficiency.
