The National Election Board of Ethiopia (NEBE) has announced polling in Benishangul-Gumuz Regional State is to be held on December 30, 2021. The Regional State, which has nine parliamentary seats and 99 regional council members, was excluded from two rounds of elections held in June and September. The Board attributed this to the unstable security conditions in the area. The ruling party and opposition parties have been in dispute over the issue, unable to agree on how to administer the region as the serving period of the ruling party ended. According to the schedule from the NEBE, voter registration is slated to take place for five days beginning December 6, 2021. The Board plans to announce the final results 10 days after polling.
