City Admin Reports Lower Road Accident Casualties

The number of casualties from traffic accidents in the capital has shown a slight decline in comparison to last year, according to the Addis Abeba Traffic Management Agency. A total of 389 people lost their lives in road accidents over the just-ended fiscal year, 13pc less than the figure recorded in the year before. The number of people who sustained heavy physical injuries has also lowered marginally; 1,824 such cases were reported last year while the previous figure stood at 1,847. However, minor injuries and damage to property as a result of traffic accidents have grown by nine percent and eight percent, respectively.
