The Ethiopia-Djibouti Railway has cut train loading and unloading time from 24 hours to 12 hours in a bid to ease a growing container shortage and speed up cargo movement along the corridor. The operator, led by Takele Uman, former mayor of Addis Abeba, said the change is part of efforts to increase train frequency and improve logistics efficiency. Importers and exporters have been urged to complete customs clearance and documentation faster to match the tighter schedule. Officials stressed that containers must be swiftly moved through dry ports to prevent bottlenecks, as the system comes under pressure to keep goods flowing without delays.
