The Ethiopian Capital Market Authority (ECMA) and the Ethiopian Mediation & Arbitration Center (EMAC) signed a memorandum of understanding last week to enhance dispute resolution within the capital market ecosystem. The agreement prioritizes resolving capital market disputes through Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) mechanisms. ECMA Director General Hana Tehelku highlighted that expert-led dispute resolution is critical for maintaining a functional and trustworthy market. EMAC, a nonprofit civil society organisation founded by legal professionals, focuses on expanding access to justice through ADR. The center’s expertise is expected to complement ECMA’s efforts, ensuring disputes are resolved efficiently and fairly.
