Ethiopia has been selected to host the 35th Session of the FAO Regional Conference for Africa (ARC35), a decision finalised at the closing of the 34th session. The conference will take place in Addis Abeba, which has increasingly positioned itself as a hub for continental agricultural policy discussions. The selection reflects recognition of the country’s recent food system reforms, including its National Food Systems Transformation Roadmap and gains in wheat production that have reduced import dependence. The FAO has previously commended the country’s approach to irrigation-led farming and landscape restoration.
