The Ministry of Trade and Regional Integration (MoTRI) signed a market access protocol agreement with Brazil on January 30, 2026, in Geneva, Switzerland, marking progress in the country’s bid to join the World Trade Organization (WTO). The agreement set out market access commitments aimed at advancing the country’s integration into the global trading system. The protocol was signed by the Permanent Representative of Ethiopia in Geneva, Ambassador Tsegab Kebebew, and Brazil's Permanent Representative to the World Trade Organization and International Economic Institutions, Ambassador Guilherme Patriota. The Ministry noted the outstanding partnership between Ethiopia and Brazil, built on strong bilateral relations, and reaffirmed its commitment to completing the remaining stages of its WTO journey.
