The National Bank of Ethiopia(NBE) notified that indicative prices issued last week by the Customs Commission for selected import items are not mandatory for banks. In a statement, the central bank said the figures serve as reference benchmarks to guide negotiations and curb the use of inflated or undervalued prices in transactions. Banks retain the authority to agree on prices with their clients, using the Customs Commission’s list as guidance rather than a fixed schedule.
