Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) has made changes to his cabinet today, including the appointment of Gedion Timotheos (PhD) as the new minister of Foreign Affairs. This appointment fills the vacancy created by the inauguration of former Minister Taye Askeselassie as the country's president earlier this month.
The Prime Minister has also made other reshuffles of his cabinet. Selamawit Kassa, a former journalist with Fana Broadcasting Corporate, has been promoted from state minister for Government Communications Service to minister of Tourism, replacing Nasise Chali, who held the position since October 2021.
Hanna Arayaselassie, the spouse of Gedion and a former head of the Ethiopian Investment Commission and Ethiopost, has been appointed as the new minister of Justice. Gedion, who studied law at the Addis Abeba University and Central European University, has been serving as the minister of Justice and Attorney General.
