The time frame of the census is pushed for the third time.
A joint session of the parliament and the House of Federation has postponed the fifth national census for one year. Attended by 320 and 112 members of the parliament and the federation, respectively, the postponement was passed today, June 10, 2019. The votes in favour of postponing the census was challenged by 30 in opposition and three abstains.

The time frame of the census is pushed for the third time. It was initially scheduled to take place in November 2017; however, instability and security concerns, internal displacement of people and the lengthy procurement process of items for the census pushed it to April 2019.
