"This is the best part of my job," Bart de Keninck, the boss of Heineken Ethiopia, said about running the biggest brewery in the country.
Heineken Ethiopia Plc has inaugurated community development projects worth 39 million Br in Bedele town last week, as part of its corporate social responsibility drive.
The brewery, located in Bedele town of Oromia Regional State, and acquired from the state few years ago, provided five cows each to 11 households and 300 chickens to another 11 households, benefiting 22 farmers organised under two micro and small cooperatives.
A foundation stone was also laid for 30 new houses under Heineken’s “Derash” housing project, with an investment of 32 million Br. A memorandum of understanding was signed with the Bedele City Administration, with construction due for completion within two and a half months.
The company also donated full sports equipment to the “Sunday Family” Health Sports Team to support community well-being.
“This is the nicest part of my job," said Heineken Ethiopia's CEO, Bart de Knink, "helping people in need and seeing the smile and love you get in return. That is the most beautiful thing.”
