Adopting a new strategy based on cloud services for digital inclusion, connectivity and affordable cost, Ethio telecom has launched a whole set of smart devices branded Znexus, marking its entry into the device market.
In the words of one of its senior executives, Ethio telecom’s offer is beyond products and services, but enterprise capabilities and ushering a new era of mobility.
The state-owned telecom operator introduced its range of smartphones, tablets, PCs, and feature phones designed to expand digital access across the country.
Only 47 million of its 85.9 million mobile users currently have internet access, leading the company offer the new devices at "affordable prices," encouraging more users to come online.
Speaking at the launch held today at the, Frehiwot Tamiru, CEO of Ethio telecom, announced the Znexus devices are 60pc to 70pc cheaper than similar products available in the market. Its tablet is priced at 60 dollars.
"The initiative aims to support the Digital Ethiopia strategy and help connect rural communities," Frehiwot told her audience. "The devices are cloud-based and powered by artificial intelligence (AI), demonstrating the company’s commitment to innovation and inclusivity in the digital space."
