The state-owned Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (CBE) has pledged 10 million Br, joining the national effort in fighting the outbreak of Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19).
Donated to the Ministry of Health, the money will be used for the procurement of sanitizer, soap, face masks, gloves and other medical equipment to be used at the quarantine centres to treat people who have acquired the virus, its executives said.
Abie Sano, president of the Bank, announced the pledge today at the Bank's headquarters accompanied by Seharela Abdulahi, state minister for Health. So far, the Ministry has officially announced six individuals have acquired the virus - three Japanese, two Ethiopians and a UK citizen. Although not confirmed by the authorities, a seventh case was found today to be positive.
