The third Addis Chamber International Manufacturing & Trade fair opened on Thursday. With the theme of "trade logistics facilitation for competitiveness in manufacturing,” it will run at the Addis Abeba Exhibition Centre until November 4, 2019. The first of these fairs, known as the Manufacturing & Technology International Trade (MATEX), was held in 2017. The fair is organized by the Addis Abeba Chamber of Commerce & Sectoral Association. A total of 105 participants are expected to attend the event to promote their manufacturing products and services. Eighty-one of these will be from Ethiopia, while the rest will come from countries such as Ghana, Turkey, Egypt and the UAE. The opening of the event was attended by the president of the Chamber, Mesenbet Shenkute, and the secretary-general, Getachew Regassa. The fair is expected to bring together manufacturing suppliers and users and aims to facilitate the transfer of technology, serving as a platform for exploring the possibilities for forming joint ventures between local and international businesses.
