Gadaa Securities Dealer S.C. and Awash Capital Investment Bank S.C. have secured full trading membership at the Ethiopian Securities Exchange (ESX), marking a further expansion of the nascent capital market.
ESX Chief Executive Officer Tilahun Esmael (PhD) described the current environment as an "impeccable experience," noting that the number of trading members has been rising in tandem with the growth in listed companies. He stated that, with a plan to reach nine listings by the end of the year, ESX has already received applications from five companies, with the remaining expected over the coming months.
According to Tilahun, ESX’s responsibility for market education should be shared among companies operating under the ESX umbrella, urging for collective engagement in building market literacy.
Andualem Hailu (PhD), chief executive officer of Awash, pledged to havs his company play an active role in knowledge sharing.
Awash Capital, the newly incorporated investment banking arm of Awash Bank, launched with an initial capital of 200 million Br, becoming the fourth investment bank in Ethiopia after receiving its licence in November 2025 from the Ethiopian Capital Market Authority (ECMA).
Gadaa Securities Dealer, a subsidiary of Gadaa Bank, was licensed on December 24, 2025, with an initial capital of 80 million Br.
