Revenues from foreign trade have reached 1.75 billion dollars in the first half of the fiscal year, officials of the Ministry of Trade & Regional Integration (MoTRI) disclosed. This represents close to half of what the country received in export proceedings last year, signalling that this year's earnings from exports may not be much different.
Agricultural exports constituted the bulk of exported items, claiming 77.23pc, and manufacturing items sold to the world brought 176.7 million dollars.
Although officials of the Ministry told Parliament yesterday that they have achieved 76.7pc of their plan for the second quarter, the export revenues dropped by close to seven percent compared to the same period last year.
