Shipping Enterprise Announces Plans for Jimma Terminal

The Ethiopian Shipping & Logistics Services Enterprise (ESLSE) has announced plans to erect a new dry port and terminal post in Jimma town, Oromia Regional State. The port to be erected on 20ht of land along the highway from Jimma to Bonga in the South Western Regional State. It will be the Enterprise's ninth such terminal. Executives of the ESLSE say the location, some 370Km southwest of Addis Abeba, was chosen as a strategic port to facilitate logistics services for coffee and other agricultural products grown extensively in the region. Southwestern Ethiopia is a hub for coffee production. The cash crop remains the country's top export item, bringing in nearly 750 million dollars over the first eight months of the financial year.
