Jigjiga Bypass Asphalt Road Construction Launches

A local constructor started the construction of the Jigjiga-Bypass asphalt concrete road in the Somali Regional State. The launching ceremony of the construction of road, which will be seven kilometres long and 30m wide, took place on June 9, 2021, in the presence of the President of Somali Region State, Mustafa Mohammed Omar. Aiming to ease the road traffic in the city and contribute to the progress of the city, the government allocated a budget of 672 million Br and awarded the works to a local contractor, Yirgalem Construction, while consulting will be handled by another domestic company, ELDA Engineering. The contractor is expected to build pedestrian walkways, a bicycle lane, a greenery area, water pipes, and a 90m long bridge. The project is expected to be completed in 18 months.
