The Japanese government has launched a project to construct a public library with a vocational training classroom in Wolayita Zone, Southern Nations Nationalities & People's Regional State. The library will be built in Gacheno Kebele with a grant programme worth close to 89,000 dollars. The grant agreement was signed in the presence of former Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn, Roman Tesfaye, his spouse, and Daisuke Matsunaga, ambassador of Japan to Ethiopia. The grant came following a request for assistance by the Hailemariam & Roman Foundation to the Japanese government aimed to set a space for a proper learning environment. The Japanese government has implemented over 400 projects since the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) in 1989. The GGP focuses on community development through supporting communities in areas such as education, vocational training, access to water and sanitation, economic growth, health and food security.
