The Coca-Cola Foundation donated 3.3 million Br to the Ethiopian Red Cross Society on May 6, 2020, to support the organisation's effort to fight the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19). The donation will be used to address vulnerable areas and to address the needy under the current situation caused by COVID-19. Meshesha Shewarega (PhD), secretary-general at the Ethiopian Red Cross Society, says that they will use this donation for food-related expenditures for students, street vendors and other people in need. "We've planned to feed students under school feeding programmes, because schools are closed now," said Meshesha. The funding will also benefit those who are living under the poverty line.
