Industrial Parks Foresee Waste Recycling Project

Industrial parks embark on a waste-recycling project as two Japanese firms, Tanabe Limited and Suntecno look to recycle waste products in the parks. The project involves knowledge experience exchange and as well as technology transfer in the sector. Aklilu Tadesse, CEO of the Industrial Parks Development Corporation (IPDC) discussed future endowments with Yoshiasu Tanabe and Massaru Kane Ko, executive directors of Tanabe and Suntecno two weeks ago. The two firms are expected to implement the pilot program in Hawassa Industrial Park, 270Km south of the capital with in two months. They signed a memorandum of understanding with the Corporation to implement the project. The Corporation currently manages 12 state-owned industrial parks across the country, hosting both local and international manufacturing firms. Export earnings of the industrial parks comprise 95pc garnered through the sale of products from garment and textile manufacturers incentivized by low costs of the labour-intensive sector.
