Two individuals are rolling large, used tires along Ras Abebe Aregay St in the direction of Mexico roundabout. They are in the vicinity of an area called Goma Quteba, translating to tire thrift, where the Ethiopian Tire & Rubber Economy Plant Plc (ETREP) was established. Tire recycling helps reduce the environmental impact of tire disposal, as tires are not biodegradable and can take up significant space in landfills. Recycled tire materials can be used in the production of new tires, rubberized asphalt, playground surfaces, and shoes.
