Desta Dinka, a former executive committee member of the Oromo Federalist Congress (OFC), has broken away from the party to launch a new political organisation, telling the Addis Standard that deepening disagreements within the OFC over electoral boycott pushed him to form the Federal Democratic Party (FDP), which is now seeking registration with the National Election Board.
