An exclusive conference brought financial industry leaders to discuss modernising Ethiopia's payment systems and applying global standards within local institutions at the Hyatt Regency in Addis Abeba on August 18, 2026. Symbol Technologies, an Ethiopian ICT firm serving as a local intermediary and reseller, helped organise the gathering. The conference served as a platform to introduce ProgressSoft's Payments Hub, a centralised system designed to handle domestic, cross-border and instant payments while supporting international standards such as ISO 20022 and SWIFT messaging. Discussions focused on ways Ethiopian banks could improve efficiency, meet changing regulatory and global requirements, and strengthen their transaction capabilities locally and internationally.
