Addis Abeba's Stadium neighbourhood has been home to driving and cycling trainees for decades. Homeless children favour the location for its open spaces and high traffic. They ride rented bikes around on a school day. Pangs of hunger are numbed out by riding in circles on top of colourful bikes for the children. They were escaping vicious cycles of poverty on top of bicycles, if only for minutes.

Gold Prices Ease After Recent Surge

The price of gold, which surged sharply in recent weeks, has started to decline in the current selling market. Over the past 15 days, 21-carat gold has traded between 24,000 and 25,000 Br per gram for imported products and around 21,000 Br for local gold. The Ethiopian Electricity Service (EES) connected 107,191 new customers in the third quarter of 2025, representing an 18.3pc increase compared with the same period last year.
