Siket Bank Enters Commodity Trade Finance

Siket Bank Enters Commodity Trade Finance

Siket Bank has signed a strategic partnership agreement with the Ethiopia Commodity Exchange (ECX) to integrate its digital payment gateway and introduce warehouse receipt financing for agricultural trade. The agreement, signed on June 11, 2026, by Siket Bank CEO Damtew Alemayehu and ECX CEO Mergiya Baysa, enables the bank to open specialised trading accounts and process electronic settlements through a secure data gateway. The partnership follows Siket’s transition from a microfinance institution to a commercial bank, bringing 24 billion Br in assets and 10 billion Br in capital into the ECX ecosystem. As part of the deal, Siket will provide warehouse receipt financing, allowing producers and traders to use ECX-certified warehouse receipts as collateral for working capital loans.
