The United States will provide 1.4 billion dollars in humanitarian help to address Ethiopia's food security challenges.
Sean Jones, USAID's Ethiopia director, will launch the Joint Emergency Operation (JEOP) tomorrow in Adama town, 100Km east of the capital. Expected to attend are Tracy Jacobson, U.S. charge de affair, Ahmed Shide, finance minister, and Shiferaw Teklemariam, commissioner for the Disaster Risk Management.
The delegates are scheduled to tour a food distribution centre in Dera, Oromia Region State, where USAID has funded food aid support for a decade. The Catholic Relief Services manages this five-year project.
