United Bank has pitched in five million Birr to the country's desperate effort to contain a potential outbreak of the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19). The money was donated to the Ministry of Health.
A task force led by United Bank CEO Melaku Kebede has been organised to fight the Coronavirus outbreak. The Bank has also called on its customers to make use of its electronic banking services. This follows the Bank's recent move to slash the commission fee paid to extend import by half.
Last week, Commercial Bank of Ethiopia granted 10 million Br to the Ministry of Health to buttress the fight against the pandemic.
So far, there are 12 confirmed cases of the virus in the country, all of which have been isolated and are under medical treatment.
