A total of 8,209 candidates have been registered for the sixth National Election. The Prosperity Party registered the highest number of candidates at 2,432, while EZEMA holds second place with 1,385 candidates registered. 125 private candidates have also signed on.
Candidate registration was completed on March 9, 2021, following a four-day deadline extension.
The candidates registered represent a total of 47 parties. This is two less than the originally registered 49 parties with the Oromo Federalist Congress and the Oromo Liberation Front failing to register any candidates.
