Logistics Professionals Embark on Capacity Building

Logistics professionals drawn from the sector that committed to two weeks of training to build their freight forwarding, shipping and logistics capacity have gained their certificate last week. Ethiopian Freight Forwarders & Shipping Agents Association gave certificates to 28 professionals in the ceremony held at the Sheraton Addis. The ceremony saw the attendance of Elizabeth Getahun, president of the Association, and Yehulaeshet Jembere from the Ethiopian Maritime Authority. The Association was formed by logistics service providers in 1998 and is a member of the International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations (FIATA), which has been delivering the internationally accredited diploma certificate in Ethiopia since 2017. This is the fourth round since the program was launched in 2010, where over 110 experts have graduated. The training was given by Thomas Sim, senior vice president of FIATA, with trade mark Ethiopia financing 40pc of the cost.
