"Life is not lost due to famine."

Legesse Tulu (PhD), minister in charge of Government Communications Service, said during a media briefing last week. He asserted that the federal government has no assessment showing "any part of the country" has situations where people have died of famine. He was responding to a call by Getachew Reda, head of the Tigray Interime Administration (IRA), for the federal government and the international community to scale up humanitarian aid to avert a catastrophe whose magnitude he warns could parallel the 1980s famine.
