Senior officials at the Ministry of Health met with a delegation from the Ethio-American Chamber of Commerce to explore ways to strengthen Ethiopia’s health system and expand cooperation. The Chamber expressed interest in investment and partnerships, focusing on pharmaceutical manufacturing, specialised medical services and workforce development. Health Minister Mekdes Daba said improving the health system remains a national priority. She highlighted efforts to boost local production of essential medicines, reduce reliance on imports and introduce advanced medical services. She also pointed to the Chamber’s potential role in human capital development through private investment, training, technology transfer and professional expertise. Discussions covered support for domestic pharmaceutical manufacturing, expansion of specialised services such as cancer screening and treatment, and stronger training and knowledge exchange for health professionals. The meeting concluded with an agreement to sustain engagement and identify practical areas of cooperation to improve health outcomes nationwide.
