Germany Donates 7m Doses of J&J Vaccine

The government of Germany has donated around 7.2 million doses of the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine to Ethiopia via the COVAX facility. The Portuguese government has also donated a further 165,000 doses of the one-dose vaccine to the Ministry of Health. The Ministry's vaccination campaign has been moving slowly since the first doses were availed to the public last April. Around 11 million people have thus far received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. Health officials had previously stated their target to vaccinate 20pc of the population by the end of 2021. They fell short of the target by around half.
