Dodai, an electric bike manufacturer, has launched an initiative to cover the cost of license plates for 250 customers which have formed an association as mandated by the Addis Abeba Transport Bureau. The move came after the company sold over 750 e-bikes since establishment. Dodai has also supported the creation of the first Electricmotorbike Owners Association in Ethiopia, which currently has over 280 members. The Association will assist electric vehicle owners with the licensing process and ensure they follow the Bureau’s regulations. Dodai is also investing in battery swap stations and charging infrastructure to support the growing demand for electric vehicles. It recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Ethiopian Investment Holdings to deploy 100 battery swap stations in Addis Abeba within a year, with plans to expand to 300 stations, including Sheger City, within three years. The company assembles e-bikes in its plant around Haile Garment which can travel up to 150km per charge at a top speed of 50 km/hr to 60km/hr.
