Dashen Bank Launches Super App-Based Virtual Mastercard for International Payments

Dashen Bank Launches Super App-Based Virtual Mastercard for International Payments

Dashen Bank has launched a Dashen Virtual Card in partnership with Mastercard, enabling customers to make secure international online payments directly through its Super App. The card supports transactions on global platforms such as Alibaba, Amazon, and Netflix, and also allows users to receive remittances from abroad, expanding beyond the functions of traditional payment tools. The launch follows the National Bank of Ethiopia’s Directive FXD/04/2026, which eased foreign exchange regulations and allows banks to issue internationally recognised payment cards to foreign currency account holders with fewer documentation requirements. Positioned as the first Super App-integrated virtual Mastercard in Ethiopia, the solution provides instant access through the Dashen Bank Super App and is aimed at improving digital payment accessibility. Alongside the rollout, Dashen Bank has also introduced a digital onboarding service that enables customers to open accounts through the Super App using Fayda ID verification, further streamlining access to banking services.
