Dachi Launches First Domestic Canned Bean Production

Dachi Launches First Domestic Canned Bean Production

Dachi Food Industry has begun producing canned bean products locally for the first time, a move designed to boost agro-processing, cut imports, and expand exports. Dachi has introduced six varieties, including red, white, and black kidney beans, fava beans, chickpeas, and sweet corn, all sourced from Ethiopian farmers. The products are initially available in 400-gram packs, with 3-kilogram cans set to launch in the coming months. They are targeted at both domestic consumers and international markets, including Dubai. Beniam Yohannes, Chief Commercial Officer of Dachi, said the initiative enables Ethiopian farmers and manufacturers to engage across the full value chain, from cultivation to finished goods. He added that production will scale and farmer sourcing will expand as demand rises.
