Chinese Firms Dominate Shortlist for Bishoftu Airport Project

Ethiopian Airlines Group (EAG) has shortlisted international consortia for the EPC-F main works packages of the Bishoftu International Airport Project, following completion of its prequalification evaluation. The Group announced the results on Saturday and will invite the selected bidders to proceed to the next stage through detailed tender documents. The project is structured into four packages, Main Facilities (F1), Support Facilities (F2), Airfield and Infrastructure (I1), and Offsite Links (I2). Seven firms qualified for the Main Facilities package, including China Communications Construction Company (CCCC), a joint venture of China Construction Eighth Engineering Division (CCEED) and China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC), and Beijing Urban Construction Group (BUCG), alongside four others. For the Offsite Links package, shortlisted bidders include a joint venture between the Ethio-Djibouti Railway (EDR) and China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC). Chinese firms account for roughly half of the shortlisted candidates.
