Digital payment platform Chapa said its system has supported the issuance of more than 3.5 million National IDs, processing over 1.27 billion Br in transactions. The figures were shared during a recognition event themed “From Shared Success to Future National Missions,” where the company was acknowledged for its role in national digital and fundraising initiatives. Chapa said its payment gateway enabled citizens to pay National ID registration fees remotely, removing the need for in-person payments at registration centres. Beyond the ID programme, the platform has also supported online fundraising efforts for the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) and emergency response initiatives.
