The parliament has endorsed a 27.9 billion Br supplementary federal budget bill for the Budget & Finance Standing Committee for further review.
The budget is an addition to the 386.9 billion Br federal government budget, which was passed last July. The supplementary budget is required for the Homegrown Economic Reform Agenda that was launched by the government.
Of the total, 18 billion Br was allocated for the implementation of policies, 7.9 billion Br for the implementation of the national equal pay for equal work agenda and two billion Birr for safety net programmes.
Tabled by the Ministry of Finance, the bill is referred to the standing committee with a unanimous vote of the 285 MPs in attendance.
