Ethio telecom, the state telecom giant, has launched LTE Advanced fourth-generation (4G) technology, which delivers higher data speeds, in the capital.
Costing the company 173 million Br, the network upgrade was undertaken by Huawei, the Chinese telecommunications firm. Ethio telecom and Huawei inked the deal last month, and the upgrade was concluded in 10 days.
The LTE Advanced 4G is 14 times faster than 3G, according to Frehiwot Tamiru, Ethio telecom's CEO. "We'll launch the service in the regional states soon as well," said Frehiwot.
