Spokesperson of the Prime Minister's Office, Nigussu Tilahun, described the situation as a "failed coup," but sources in Bahir Dar say the situation remains "fluid and dangerous" where active hostilities are taking place in the regional state's headquarters and the ruling party's office.

Fortune has learnt that the person who has sustained severe wound in Bahor Dar is the Attorney General of the Regional State, Megbaru Kebede.
