Amhara State President Resigns

Ambachew Mekonen and Gedu Andargachew


- Ambachew is to replace him.

Gedu Andagrachew, president of the Amhara Regional State, has submitted a resignation to the region state's council.

His resignation has been accepted by the Council whose members will install Ambachew Mekonnen (PhD).

Gedu has served as the region's president for the past five years succeeding Ayalew Gobeze, who was moved to Turkey as Ethiopia's ambassador. Gedu also served as deputy president of the region and head of the region's agriculture bureau.
