Boeing and Ethiopian Airlines have partnered to transport humanitarian aid using the airline’s three 737 Max aeroplanes, moving close to 6,000Kg of medical supplies, books and clothing to Addis Abeba.
“Ethiopian Airlines has a long history of collaborating with Boeing on humanitarian flights,” said Mesfin Tasew, Group CEO of Ethiopian Airlines.
Boeing's Humanitarian Delivery Flight Program was established in 1992 as a partnership between the firm and its customers to transport humanitarian aid items on newly delivered planes. Since then, nearly 200 humanitarian delivery flights and more than close to a million kilograms of crucial supplies have been distributed.
Global Ethiopian Diaspora Action Group, Noble Humanitarian Missions, and the Ethiopian Institute of Resilience & Climate Change provided medical supplies to be distributed by the Ministry of Health. The US-based nonprofit organisation that works to increase literacy, Open Hearts Big Dreams, donated books and art supplies, which will be distributed to women and children by Project Mercy.
