The newly-formed councils of Gambella and Sidama regional states have voted to keep their respective incumbent leaders in office.
The council of Sidama, which convened earlier today in Hawassa City, has decided that Desta Ledamo will remain at the helm as President of the country's youngest regional state.
By the same token, the council of Gambella voted to keep Umod Ujulu in place as President.
The two councils have also approved their respective cabinets
